How to Rent a Car
There are two matters to consider before choosing a rental car source. First, a car rented through
a Wisconsin state contract cannot have any personal use, such as a side trip while traveling on business.
Additionally, it cannot be used to transport anybody who is not a UW or state employee or a student.
These restrictions do not apply to a car rented from the National Car Rental Big Ten contract.
There are three contract car rental sources:
• National Car Rental (Big Ten Contract)
This is for a rental that could include some personal use and that could be carrying passengers
other than UW or state employees or students, no matter where it begins, in-state or out-ofstate.
The cost in this contract is the same as with the Wisconsin state contract for National.
• Enterprise Rent-A-Car (WI State Contract)
This is for a rental that begins in Wisconsin, that will have no personal use, and that will carry
only UW or state employees or students.
• National Car Rental (WI State Contract)
This is for a rental that begins outside of Wisconsin, that will have no personal use, and that
will carry only UW or state employees or students. You would probably use this one after flying
first to another city outside of Wisconsin.
